This is easily THE BEST Death
Metal band to come out of the U.S. in recent times. Nile Plays a different
type of Death Metal which is heavily influenced by Egyptian mythology,
and there are various breaks within the songs with a strong Egyptian sound
to them. Nile's music sometimes has an American to it, and at other times
it reminds me more of a Swedish approach. There's some
synthesizer used and also flute
which especially adds a strange and unique mood to the music. The musicianship
is top notch, from the solid drumming of Pete Hammoura, to the intricate
riffing of Karl Sanders. Though this is only Nile's second offering, They
play extremely tight. Two members handle the vocals, which makes for a
good variety in that area. Great production as well... Anyone looking
for a Death Metal band with
a unique approach, while still maintaining the brutality, must indulge
in "Festivals of Atonement".

FESTIVALS OF ATONEMENT
Fragments of fast death and
doomy relentings, combined to perfection. And then there's this exotic
Egyptian aura. And this unfamiliar European sound, and those melodic solos...very
ground- breaking and individual!

FESTIVALS OF ATONEMENT
Brital, avant-death metal with
an ethnic(Egyptian) twist....who would have ever expected this to come
out of death metal's hotbed of South Carolina, USA? Sarcasm aside, I can't
praise this enough. First off, Despite any of the concepts that make them
original, Nile are three talented musicians. The drum work is extremely
tight, the double bass rattles perfectly in unison with the rest of the
beats(whether slow or blasting). The guitars vary in tempos while still
maintaining a genuine death
metal crunch; sometimes
doomy and melodic and other times fast and chaotic. I am blown away by
this! The track "Wrought", in all it's 8 minute glory, reminds me of a
death metal Iron Maiden by it's complex arrangements(brutal then ethnic
then melodic). Plenty of atmospheric(again distinctly Egyptian) sounds
contrast with the ever-changing-but always-brutal riffs, and there is even
a decent acoustic piece("Immortality Through Art"). Lyricall, things here
are as un-cliche as you could
possibly get for a death metal
band, all the songs are based on interesting tales of Egyptian Mythology. This
band is amazing, you have no choice but to buy this!!!

FESTIVALS OF ATONEMENT
Cool speed metal
with a sprinkling of death metal to boot. The music is fast, but not noise. The
drummer pounds on the skins with a fury. In other words he's great. The
five tunes are all in your face smashing numbers that would knock any green
day fan to the ground. Vocals are death metal growls, but not Suffo or Cannibal
Corpse growls which really getting old in the underground. If you like
Malevolent Creation and bands in that style you'll love this.

RAMSES BRINGER OF WAR.
An all new exhibit of ITHYPHALLIC
METAL from death metals absolute best unsigned band. Both the pure blasting-death
aggression and the Egyptian atmospheres are crancked up even more than
last time. One part you'll hear fast and ripping death, then it will switch
to something utterly surreal.Nile are now what MORBID ANGEL were to the
scene 7 years ago. The dawning of superior, original death/grind.
